I googled a place that sends out cd's and you send them postage stamps as trade

http://www.doors.com/liveshow/trades.html

my friend rj has used this place twice and says they are reputable.

i'd like to know your thoughts/experiences

"POSTAGE STAMP TRADES: Postage is non-negotiable so we can accept the equivalent trade value for your recordings in the form of new US postage stamps. "

us postage is negotiable, for what it's worth. when you get those shows, I hope you be sure to make them really available for free. 8 bucks isn't free.

actually that wouldnt fly by most taping/trading policies since that IS akin to paying for them

it needs to be blank media and postage required to send that media

postage = currency the way im reading it

I agree. Those guys are bootleggers, using the free trading community to camouflage their activities. Not only that, they are obviously trying to obtain more doors memorabilia... I'd suspect they create counterfeit memorabilia if I were cynical.

and you know I am cynical.

I might even go so far as to call the original post a stealth advertisement if I were in a suspicious frame of mind.

But hey I'm a paranoid cynic.

*update*
I emailed the guy and as mentioned earlier, I smelled something foul. Just from the way he was speaking, I knewed I'd be losing out on the deal. And 8 bucks postage? no thanks.

......And no, this wasn't an advertisement.lol

Yeah, theres a few bands that really have the bootleggers swarming all over them, it seems the doors is one of them.

It looked real sketchy to me: "trade your precious doors memorabilia for our bootlegs, or just send us easily negotiable postage (post office treats U.S postage stamps as cash, basically) because stamps aren't money wink wink wink, and we don't want to do anything illegal, right?"

try furthurnet or something, that place IS illegal AND sketch. they are bending the definition of non-negotiable. postage is non-negotiable only in B&P when the set amount is the amount it costs to send the CD back. They are clearly profiting by stating a "standard" trade value for generic CDs as 8 dollars, which in reality cost less than 50 cents apiece.

This is the best place for getting the doors' bootlegs. What's $8? I've gotten alot of cd's from them and it seems like a good deal to me. Where else would you get this material? You guy's sure talk a lot of crap, but what does your doors colection look like?
